Ever-evolving toughness:
Metal-coated shock-resistant structure

A stainless steel bezel of extraordinary strength and an inner case made of damage- and deformation-resistant fiberglass-reinforced resin protect the module. A small protrusion on the inner case reduces surface contact with the bezel to accommodate shocks to the module. Advanced technology is applied to the original G-SHOCK concept of hollow construction to provide a shock-resistant structure with a metal exterior.
The bezel uses the octagonal design motif that G-SHOCK has featured since the first watch. Undergoing a meticulous process of forging, cutting and polishing, the bezel is precisely crafted — from the intricate shape of the face to the shape of its back, which is key to the precision of the match made with the inner case. A rounded hairline finish is applied to the top surface and a mirror polish to the sides, giving the bezel a beautiful shine.

Wafer thin design

We achieve shock resistance with minimal exposed case thickness by using a metal-clad shock-resistant structure. The optimized and high-density assembly of the circuit board structure makes it possible to further slim the module. The result is a very slim design for an analog-digital hybrid model with a metal case and a comfortable fit on the wrist.

Textured path
The urethane band of the watch uses a detailed rectangular dot texture. Advanced molding technology has been used to achieve textural complexity with additional variation in dot size. The slide lever makes it easy to install and remove the band.

Dial with metal vapor deposition
Mirror and hairline finishes are applied to the dial surface to achieve a textural fit for specific metal models to maintain a level of meticulous attention to detail.
Color IP with individual characters
The watch is offered in three color options: silver, which highlights the hard texture of the metal (GM-2100), along with dark blue IP (GM-2100N) and dark gray IP (GM-2100B) options. This classy color elevates the watch to the status of a true fashion item.

2019: The GM-2100
The first GM-2100 watch was introduced in 2019, expanding the possibilities of analog toughness and style. Inheriting the design framework of the DW-5000 and AW-500 concepts, it leverages the latest technology to capture the essence of their identity in a new physical form. This means creating a new standard bearer for G-SHOCK, reimagined from the point of view of the brand's beginnings, now some 30 years after the debut of the AW-500.

New Style G-SHOCK

1983: DW-5000
The first G-SHOCK — the DW-5000 — made its debut in 1983. Its timeless design, perfected from the ground up, was born from the pursuit of ultimate toughness avoiding all outward signs.
1989: AW-500
The design concept was soon inherited by the first analog G-SHOCK model — the AW-500 — released in 1989. This concept was realized with a rock-solid design that looked almost like it was carved from a single block of resin, removing everything inconsequential.

Development concept: slim and compact. The determination to stay away from outsiders is realized not only in design, but also in terms of size. It will require revolutionary new technologies — from thin modules to Carbon Core Controller structures — to achieve this goal. Distilling the essence of the original DW-5000 design, this watch introduces a reworked form that is sure to seamlessly integrate with contemporary lifestyle and fashion.

Paris, Hamburg, New York and Shanghai... impressions gathered from points around the world inform the design work. Many sketches were made, and designs were drawn and revised in a careful process of trial and error. Finally a new watch was born, featuring a minimalist design with an octagonal bezel.
